PSAs: I create short films that touch hearts and inspire change

When Sinta is sexually assaulted by her thesis supervisor, she has to struggle for justice from her campus. The ministry of education and culture is using many of the films I made for them to educate lecturers, staff and students in all higher education institutions in Indonesia about sexual violence and gender equality. It was a joy to make this film with a truly wonderful cast and production team. You can see some behind the scenes photos here.
A male master’s student thinks women can’t possibly understand their mathematics professor’s advanced lectures. This film went viral on several platforms, with well over 3 million views on TikTok alone.
A brave student fights back when her university’s leaders try to blame her for being attacked.
A stark plea for kinder parenting.
Three badminton buddies decide to intervene in a domestic violence case.
Nani’s parents think their young daughter will be happy to get married to her handsome friend Budi. But what does Nani think?
Agus is sure his wife Sri’s domestic chores are easy peasy. But when a reality TV show knocks on his door, his whole world is turned upside-down. A comedy mockumentary with an important message about equality.
The best thing about making films is the collaboration involved. Here is the amazing Tukar Tempat cast and crew with producer Aco Tenri (next to me) and 1st AD Opik (doing a V-sign in the front row). I’m blessed to have worked with you all.
A shady man offers Tuti a “dream” job. Will her parents fall for his too good to be true offer?
A junior lecturer thinks she’s going on a field trip with a group of academics, but it turns out she’ll be staying in a remote shack with a senior male colleague. An honest mistake, or something more sinister?
A student questions the relevance of Pancasila to today’s Indonesia.
A student decides to involve his friends in helping a woman who has fallen on hard times.
An animation about what social media is doing to our minds.
A plea to be careful what you share on the internet. I had the pleasure of teaching a group of teenage volunteers to crew on this micro budget film so we could make it together. All characters in the film are played by volunteer non-actors too, and directing them was a wonderful experience.
A film about the dangers of sharing fake news. A second micro-budget film that I directed, shot and edited, with non-actors in all the roles and an inexperienced crew I trained up for the shoot. I loved the experience of teaching young people film making through the process of creating a film together.
Making “Catatan Lapangan” (Field Notes), in the field with the gifted actor Runny Rudiyanti.
